On March 30, 2024, my husband suffered a stroke mid-flight on our way to Ft. Lauderdale and was rushed to Broward Memorial. After seven days in the hospital, doctors would only release him to a rehab facility in our hometown in upstate New York if he could be transported by air ambulance—something that cost nearly $50,000.

We had travel insurance, but the process to get it approved was a nightmare. Every time I completed what was asked, they came back with more. On day 11, they required a signed, witnessed form—but it was a Saturday, and no hospital staff would help. I was overwhelmed, scared, and completely alone.

That’s when Michele appeared. She was visiting her brother across the hall, saw me in distress, and asked if she could help. She didn’t hesitate—she signed as my witness, took the phone, and confidently handled the insurance company.

Thanks to her deep knowledge of healthcare and her access to the right resources, Michele got them exactly what they needed. She told the insurance company my husband needed to be on the air ambulance the next morning—and he was.

My husband and I always refer to Michele as our angel. Her compassion, strength, and ability to take charge during a terrifying moment is something we will never forget. We are forever grateful for her help and her friendship.
